Tiki stool – bright, fun, practical, and brilliant. These are just a few words that popped into our head when Tiki popped up into our lives.

Designed by “derlot” a design company established in 2003 by Alexander Lotersztain, the stool is available in two heights and in a spectacular array of gloss colours. It’s mouth-like opening acts as a foot rest, and is also available with an optional seat cushion if required.

The stool is manufactured in Australia from roto-moulded recycled LDPE, which is UV stable and fire retardant and comes with a 5 year structural warranty. Ideal for interior or outdoor environments.

By far one of the guiltiest of all guilty pleasures at Design Scale is having the presence of fresh flowers or plants within the vicinity. Though our eyes and noses appreciate it -our weekly budgets don’t always, even so we are tempted to brave the early morning hours of the flower markets to sooth and over indulge in our dose of freshly cut flowers.

It is this guilty pleasure which constantly draws our attention to young and aspiring talent such as Muesli and Yoghurt, a fresh Melbourne design company specialising in innovative floral arrangements for individuals, events and special occasions.

Brett Coelho

Manufactured from legally collected and recycled street signs are these nifty furniture and homeware products designed by Melbourne based designer Brett Coelho.

Did you ever imagine yourself owning a piece of road authority that at the same time does not make you feel like you committed a crime of vandalism?

The recycled signs are water-jet cut and hand folded, and then sprayed with a polyurethane seal to protect the original surface of the street sign.

“Speed Light” pictured below vary depending on the size of the recycled signage and wastage is kept to the utmost minimum.

An assortment of “Speed Bowl’s” are also on offer, which are fabricated from hand folded roadsigns with non-scratch pad bases made from vinyl billboards.
