Mr Haug knows good lighting.

Located in Melbourne’s East Brunswick is the Volker Haug studio, where many unique creations are being strewn together as we speak.

There is no doubt in the importance of lighting to either make or break the feeling of an interior space. Using uncanny materials such as plumbing joints and things people normally associate in the category of “junk”, Volker’s peculiar yet minimalist style makes it easy to picture his lights in the latest trendy bar, or in your very own living room.

His range is vast and extensive, however below are a few of our stand out favourites.

Manufactured from legally collected and recycled street signs are these nifty furniture and homeware products designed by Melbourne based designer Brett Coelho.

Did you ever imagine yourself owning a piece of road authority that at the same time does not make you feel like you committed a crime of vandalism?

The recycled signs are water-jet cut and hand folded, and then sprayed with a polyurethane seal to protect the original surface of the street sign.

“Speed Light” pictured below vary depending on the size of the recycled signage and wastage is kept to the utmost minimum.

An assortment of “Speed Bowl’s” are also on offer, which are fabricated from hand folded roadsigns with non-scratch pad bases made from vinyl billboards.

It’s not that we are obsessed with tea……..

…….ok maybe just a little bit, but when we stumbled upon this dainty “Electric Mavis Luminare” design by Gregory Bonasera, it was just way too hard to resist.

Made from recycled and pre loved tea cups and saucers, these delicate and elegant crockery items are transformed into whimsical and quirky light fittings. The selection of random colours and patterns used, add perfectly to the quaint end result.

Two configurations are available either a single pendant or a triple pendant as shown below.

Gregory is a ceramicist by trade who is currently located in Victoria, his work is regularly exhibited in Australia and internationally.
