February 1, 2013 in Fashion & Accessory Design, Homeware Design, Interior Design

Did you get a chance to visit the Young Blood Designers Market in Sydney at the end of last year? We did and noticed the hottest trend seemed to be all things print! Whether it be screen printing, stationary printing or canvass printing…. it was patterns galore.

One company that stood out for us in particular was The Print Society.

Aloha 2013!!!

Sooooo 2012 went by very quickly, and life took over hence our M.I.A for most of last year. We apologise and thank those who have been oh so patiently waiting for another post (though we predict this may be close to 0 now). Well we are back, and have been out and about, keeping our eyes peeled and we can very proudly say – there are definitely some exciting new Australian Designers out there, so as we love to say – WATCH THIS SPACE.

To kick off the year, we would like to introduce you to a design company that we have been busting at the seams to blog about since their early inception in 2011. You may have noticed them at Workshopped 2012 with “Beryl”, or even at a pop-up store in the Rocks recently with “New York”, but one thing is for sure – you will not forget them once you have met them.

Savage Design will be one of the friendliest, fun and unique design companies you may ever come across. It is the collaborative force of Joel Savage and James Groom that bring to you designs that just pour and ooze out absolute attention to detail in everything they produce.

Brett Coelho

February 7, 2012 in Furniture Design, Homeware Design, Lighting Design

Manufactured from legally collected and recycled street signs are these nifty furniture and homeware products designed by Melbourne based designer Brett Coelho.

Did you ever imagine yourself owning a piece of road authority that at the same time does not make you feel like you committed a crime of vandalism?

The recycled signs are water-jet cut and hand folded, and then sprayed with a polyurethane seal to protect the original surface of the street sign.

“Speed Light” pictured below vary depending on the size of the recycled signage and wastage is kept to the utmost minimum.

An assortment of “Speed Bowl’s” are also on offer, which are fabricated from hand folded roadsigns with non-scratch pad bases made from vinyl billboards.

To view some of the creative artworks and installations created by Brett, be sure to check out his website.

Jomo

December 13, 2011 in Greenery Design, Homeware Design

Please welcome aboard to this blog a brand spanking new fantastic design firm – Jomo, whom only launched their brand recently in July this year at the Decoration and Design Expo in Melbourne.

They do have quite a decent portfolio up their sleeve however, and we are definitely liking their style. Using a network of Melbourne based metal work specialist and artisans, they are able to deliver modern and high quality end results.

The “Winged Dish” is a minimal and elegant bird bath/water feature. Its curbed shape captures a circle of water at a comfortable depth for our feathered friends to drink from and bath in. Besides its functional feature however, really…..it just looks good!!

The dish is fabricated from 3mm stainless steel and has a diameter of approximately 1.6 metres.

We encourage you to view more of the Jomo range, on their website; www.jomosteel.com
